It totally is! . . . and I'm going to make it in celebration of Christmas even though the main course at my brother's house is ham. My nephew and his wife will be here and he loves it . . . a lot . . . as in it's a special family food for him. They are, at this very moment, moving/driving back to WA from CA . . . He's a US Navy Rescue Swimmer reassigned from San Diego to the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island . . . a ferry ride away.

I had to inquire, but the butcher had a huge package of turkey backs to sell to me tonight. They were in the back (no pun intended). Dressing again in a week. Hooray!

I love family traditions.

I, too, grew up with "the meat's sweeter by the bone" and my DH grew up with the ball of white bread will just sit there in the tummy. When he had a procedure earlier this Fall, the doctors told him not to eat store bought white bread for at least 3 days before the procedure because of its lack of digestion qualities. Guess his Granny and your Dad were right! (We don't eat store bought white bread except for stuffing or SOS, anyway!)
